Karna is known as Ear. When it comes to ear cavity, Ayurveda says it has profound amount of air and space. These two element comes together to form Vata dosha. So, there is Vata dosha predominance in ear canal. So, many ear related problems like less hearing, tinnitus etc. have Vata dosha imbalance. To regulate this Vata dosha and to strengthen ear canal, Ayurveda suggest Karnapuran. Medicinal oil is suggested to use while daily Karnapuran, for control of Vata dosha.

Procedure of Karnapuran

  1. Patient Positioning: The individual is comfortably positioned with the affected ear facing upwards.
  2. Preparation of the Oil: Medicated oil suitable for the condition is warmed to a comfortable temperature.
  3. Cleaning the Ear: The external ear is gently cleaned to remove any debris.
  4. Administering the Oil: The warmed medicated oil is then slowly poured into the ear canal, allowing it to fill the space adequately.
  5. Retaining the Oil: The patient remains in the same position for a specified duration to allow the oil to penetrate the ear canal.
  6. Draining the Oil: Subsequently, the oil is drained out, and any residual oil is wiped off from the external ear.
  7. Repeat if Necessary: In some cases, the process may be repeated for the other ear or as per the prescribed course.
